Fundraising Ideas for Operation Hope Appeal 08

 This fundraising activity takes some organising, but is well worth it for a fun filled evening.

It is an event to invite your friends to!

 

You will need a venue, preferably your Church hall or meeting place, you will also need an auctioneer with the right spirit and talent to dress appropriately (perhaps a sparkly waistcoat or bowler hat).

 

You may also want to contact local businesses etc, to be part of the prize giving for the promises. For example your local supermarket may contribute vouchers, or your cinema, football club or beauty parlour! Tell them about the cause and you will be surprised what vouchers/products that they will contribute.

 

The idea of the night is to auction individual promises as well as any vouchers/products you have received from businesses. You will be surprised how a £10 voucher may actually sell for £30 when people know it is for a good cause.

 

Some of the individual promises could be: three nights baby sitting voucher, mowing the garden, home baked chocolate cake, holiday home for the week, music lessons, tuition, second hand DVDs etc etc. The idea is to get creative and you will be amazed what funds you can raise.

 

 This is a great fundraising activity that can take place working together with some of your friends or people in your Church who live in the same neighbourhood.

 

The idea is that you invite guests to a dinner party, charging them an agreed amount in which you state all of the proceeds go to O2H’s Operation Hope Appeal.

 

You then choose three venues, (people’s houses), one for the starter, another venue for the main course and another for the dessert. Stagger the times on your invite to allow for each course, and you will have a fund packed evening and raised some funds to help the poor.

 

You can be creative with your invite, share the vision of O2H and map out the venues, you may even decide to have a menu sent out in advance!

  

 This is a chance for you to use your passions to raise funds. Perhaps you love swimming and would like to set yourself a challenge of swimming 300 lengths to help the poor. Perhaps it is going without food for a weekend, or maybe it is that 100 mile bike ride that you have always said that you were going to do. It could even be sky diving or bungee jumping, the canvas is clean for you to paint the activity that you wish to be sponsored for. Of course we would like for 100% of your donations to go towards Opportunity2Hope, so choosing your activity may involve something that you can do without it being a high cost.

 

Have you thought about getting a group involved from your church with the 185ft abseil challenge??

 

Rather than writing dozens of Christmas cards this year, why not produce a Giant Christmas card that everyone in your Church can sign. Instead of spending money on purchasing Christmas cards, people can put in a box what they would have spent on cards and sign the giant Church Christmas card instead. You can even involve the Children in making and designing the card! That way they can can learn about the project in Zimbabwe and adults can help support the work at the same time!

 

As part of your children's Church you could share with your young people about the project in Zimbabwe. Describe a typical day and their living conditions as well as things that they need and things that we take for granted. You could then get your young people to design a shopping list for Zimbabwe, this could include: running water, beds, accommodation, things to play with. Perhaps children will want to forfeit one of their Christmas presents to help develop the centre in Zimbabwe. Just a thought!

 

How about looking through your wardrobe and house for clutter and bits and pieces that you no longer need. Maybe it is time to tidy up at home! One way in which you could raise funds for Zimbabwe is to ask people from your Church to give you unwanted items that you could sell at a car boot sale. Or maybe your Church would like to have a community day, where you invite people in for cakes and coffee and a second-hand sale!

 

How about having a fireworks party with hot sausages and a bonfire! This is a great way to invite Church family and friends and with a contribution/donation to Zimbabwe at the same time! If you would like some video footage of the project to show, email: kristina@opportunity2hope.org.uk

 

Many people celebrate Halloween, others celebrate Hallelujah. A chance for your young people to have a celebration party, play games and have lots of fun! They can even invite the friends..you could make it a ticketed event with all the proceeds going towards Operation Hope Appeal (Zimbabwe).
