Passion for Jesus
If there is one thing that marks us out above everything else it is simply this; we love Jesus.
We love doing his will and we love doing it together. The question Jesus asked his Apostle Peter (recorded in the Bible in John 21:15) was simply "do you love me?"
As men and women called by Jesus we want to give a
resounding YES, we do love you.
Just as everything Jesus did was motivated by love then we want everything we do to be motivated by that same love. We believe strongly that there is no point having the right vision, doctrine and values, having great projects, conferences and churches, if we don't have love for God, love for each other and love for people in the world. (Have a look in the Bible at 1 Corinthians 13)
But why do we feel like this? Very simply because of what Jesus has done for us.
The Bible tells us we were once without God and without hope in the world. Yet God loved us so much he sent his son - Jesus - to die for us. He gave his life in exchange for ours.
Wonderfully God got hold of our lives and poured his love into us. By receiving and responding to what Jesus did our lives have been transformed (the Bible calls this being "Born Again") and we have come into a new relationship with God.
We want everyone to experience this love.
We want those who do not know this love to hear the good news about Jesus.
We want those who struggle in life, the poor and afflicted, those in distress or despair, needing healing or help, to receive the mercy and love of Jesus.
We want those without hope, or purpose, those trapped in sin and selfishness to know that by the love of Jesus their life can be full of meaning and enjoyment.
We have discovered real love and we must pass it on.
We have to agree with Paul who wrote to the church in Corinth "The love of Jesus leaves us no choice" (2 Corinthians 5:14).
Our greatest hope is that if you don't already know and experience the love of Jesus you will discover this love for yourself. And if you do know it, that you will continue to enjoy the love of God that brings life in all it's fullness.
